Democrats should consider Alistair Firmin
As Democrats living in Oregon, we see a disconnect between the local Democratic candidates — who we tend to like — and their collective inability to fix Oregon's massive problems when they get to Salem.
We need things to improve. We need to get more resources into the classrooms so that our kids can thrive. We need safer communities while also holding the criminal justice system more accountable. We need tangible solutions to help those who are struggling in our community to find housing, mental health support, and work. These problems have been insurmountable because the leadership in Salem isn't willing to try new things. At the same time, we cannot vote for the typical anti-choice Republican. So, what do we do?
Finally, we have a local candidate — Alistair Firmin — who aligns with our values. He is willing to try new things without compromising on the things that are important to us. He is positive, optimistic, independent, pro-choice, and pro-gun safety. He is a good and decent husband and father, raising his kids in Oregon's public schools. We are excited to vote for Alistair.
